ARTED Chairman of the Board Serhan Acar, took part as a speaker in the session titled “Local Production and Innovative Technologies in the Medical Device Industry”, held within the scope of the Medical Device Governance Summit. In his speech titled “Challenges in the Integration of Innovative and Technological Products into the Healthcare System”, Acar emphasized that Türkiye’s localization strategy in healthcare should be inclusive of all stakeholders. Acar also underlined the importance of recognizing global companies as partners and highlighted that high value-added medical device ecosystem is achievable through the establishment of R&D collaborations.
In his speech, Serhan Acar stated that every country aiming to build a competitive and sustainable healthcare system considers the integration of next-generation medical devices into their system a strategic priority in order to improve accuracy in patient diagnosis and treatment, as well as to enhance the quality and efficiency of healthcare services. He emphasized that the widespread use of innovative medical devices would also significantly contribute to health tourism by enabling the provision of the most advanced diagnostic and treatment methods to international patients. Highlighting the importance of continued alignment with EU legislation and the necessity of a predictable and transparent regulatory environment to promote investment and innovation, Acar expressed his appreciation for the upcoming developments aimed at introducing value-based and alternative reimbursement models for innovative products.
Serhan Acar also emphasized the importance of inter-institutional data sharing, highlighting that in Türkiye’s healthcare ecosystem, all obstacles can be overcome if local manufacturers, global companies, public institutions, and healthcare professionals each a part of the whole act in unison He underscored that the contributions of ARTED member companies through their global know-how and technical capabilities to local production, service continuity, and technological transformation once again demonstrate the critical importance of reinforcing the localization process through international partnerships.
